Our Story of Faith & Family
Born from resilience, shaped by culture, and united in Christ — we are the New Life Church Bhutanese Nepali Community.
A Journey Across Continents
The story of Nar Maya and her husband, Phurba, is a moving testimony of faith, perseverance, and community. Originally from Bhutan, Nar spent years living in a refugee camp in eastern Nepal, where she began attending church. Her husband, Phurba, discovered Christianity while working in India. When they reunited, they shared their experiences and began building a life centered on their Christian faith. After resettling in Nebraska as refugees, they connected with Christ Community Church (CCC) Omaha, a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA). CCC members walked alongside the newly arrived Nepali-Bhutanese community, helping them navigate housing, employment, and life in America.
The group initially began worshipping together as a small community of just 40 people in the balcony of CCC. With the support and partnership of CCC, the community eventually transitioned into an independent church plant. Today, this vibrant Nepali-Bhutanese congregation has grown to more than 250 people. Even more remarkably, members of this same community are now helping plant new churches among unreached people groups across Asia. What began with a journey of displacement and uncertainty has become a story of faith, growth, and a growing mission to share the Gospel with others.
What We Believe
Our faith is rooted in Scripture and expressed through a living relationship with God and one another.
01
The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God — our ultimate authority for faith and practice in all areas of life.
02
The Trinity
We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — each fully God, one in essence and purpose.
03
Salvation by Grace
We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone — His death and resurrection is the only path to eternal life.
04
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who empowers believers for holy living, spiritual gifts, and bold witness.
05
The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ — a community called to worship, grow, serve, and share the gospel with all people.
06
Christ's Return
We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ to establish His kingdom and bring all of creation to its ultimate purpose.
